We meet on the last Wednesday of every month (except for January and December), and we also schedule viewing nights, depending on the weather. Our meetings are held at the Manawatu Observatory, in Anzac Park on Cliff Road. Keep an eye on the Calendar and the News pages. Our society also produces a monthly newsletter, Te Patiki, which has a strong local flavour, as well as highlighting some of the latest global news in astronomy. With literally hundreds of years of experience at our fingertips, our members are well-placed to pass on a wealth of astronomical knowledge to those who are keen to learn.
We are a very active group of amateurs who tackle many of the fields of astronomy available to lay people. P.N.A.S. members have been leaders in the field of astrophotography/imaging for several decades, and that trend is continuing with some of the younger members advancing along these lines. If you want to experience some of the greatest displays that nature has on offer, both through the eyepiece and with the naked eye, then the Palmerston North Astronomical Society can be your gateway to the universe.
