At the heart of our teaching and research is a commitment to ensuring that future generations can flourish and grow.
Central to this is preserving our precious planet and respecting the ways in which we use natural resources.
We want to ensure we tread lightly on the earth in areas such as green infrastructure, energy conservation, protection of native biodiversity, water management and resource recovery, low carbon mobility and effective waste.
Everyone on our campus does their bit, not only through teaching and research, but with everyday good habits like switching off unnecessary lights and heating, only printing documents when essential, taking short showers, only watering gardens when absolutely necessary, and using public transport or cycling.
Our sustainability vision and purpose
Our Sustainability Vision is to be an exemplar of sustainable practices for the land-based sector. Our purpose in this is to be a leader in sustainability education and research, demonstrated through the impacts we have on the sectors we support and influence.
Sustainability policy
This describes our institution-wide commitment to be a leading organisation, not just in Aotearoa New Zealand but globally, in promoting and staying congruent to sustainable practices, matched against international standards. Read our Sustainability Plan.
